                                   Headquarters 26th Georgia
                                                   Co. A
                               Camp near Brunswick, Georgia

Soldiers of the 26th Company A.
Prepare to leave St. Simons camp on May
14, 1864 for Resaca, Geo., presently serving as a staging area for our troops
marching along the rail lines to meet the enemy in Tennesee and Virginia.
General Johnston requests that reinforcments be sent his Army of
Tennesee camped at Dalton, Geo., primarily from General Leonidas Polk's
Army of Mississippi. At present, most of Gen. Polk's forces are in
Mississippi and a third division yet to be formed made up of odd units
scattered throughout our beloved South. General Johnston has been made
aware the fact that a large number of Union troops are on the march south
of Dalton along roads leading toward Rome, Georgia. Gen. Johnston has
asked us to entrench at Resaca.
